The role can be broken down in three categories:
Deliver to fulfil client needs: Work with the quant investment teams on all aspects of product management, including the interpretation, articulation and dissemination of key investment strategy content & philosophy, process, results and overall key market positioning and messaging to clients in cooperation with Fiduciary Management. This includes coordinating and executing the 3-year Mandating process as well as the Annual Mandate Review process for the investment teams.
Understand and extract client needs: This involves regular contacts with Fiduciary Management to understand the needs of our pension fund clients with the aim of identifying current and future needs related to information and investment strategies. It also requires an understanding of the investment portfolios run by the Quant teams, ESG integration, the quant industry and what peers are doing.
Ensure a pleasant client experience: This encompasses regular reporting on the performance and sustainability profile, the provision of market and portfolio updates as well as the crafting of educational pieces. Examine and monitor characteristics and statistics for the quant strategies to understand and be a source of knowledge on covered strategies in order to communicate both portfolio positioning and sources of return and risk.
On a day to day basis, primary activities will be spend as follows: project management and interaction (40%), participating in quant portfolio meetings (20%), and writing/communication (40%).
The Product Specialist we are looking for is client focused, communicates clearly, has strong writing skills (Dutch and English), is a team player and has the right mind-set to be a long-term responsible investor. Additionally, you have:
- A university degree, preferably in finance/ economics/ econometrics, and CFA/VBA certificates. Understand substance of (quant) investing;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English. Ability to give effective presentations and provide ad hoc answers;
- Good coordination/project management skills;
- Ideally, experience in a customer-oriented environment or role within the asset management sector, eg consultant, executive office, account manager, product specialist, investment specialist;
- Competent in performance attribution interpretation;
- A strong capability with MS Office;
- A knowledge of (Quant) commodity and equity instruments, analysis and portfolio management techniques would be advantageous.
