Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
APG believes in a strong Dutch pension system founded on collectivity and solidarity. It is our goal to support this system with our knowledge and expertise. This way we want to make a contribution to the realization of sound and affordable collective pensions for current and future generations. We do this by sharply monitoring costs and yields, by actively sharing our fiscal, legal and financial knowledge. And by making continuous improvements we contribute to the positive development of the collective pension system.
Corporate social responsibility plays an important role in Asset Management. We believe that a focus on people and the environment goes hand in hand with sound financial performance. APG devotes a great deal of attention to investment projects of a sustainable character, such as alternative energy, environmentally friendly technology and infrastructure. Furthermore, we influence companies by actively exercising our shareholder rights and entering into dialog.
APG is a socially involved enterprise. We continue to adapt the management of our business so as to adopt the best solutions for people and the environment. By keeping an eye on the world around us, we hope that future generations will also have an opportunity of growing up in a livable society. APG strives for a careful balance between people, planet and profit in all of its business decisions. Employees are the most important capital of our organization. This is why we invest in promoting the vitality, employability and development of employees.
APG also expects employees to assign priority to sustainability in their day-to-day work. In purchasing products and services, we pay attention to the social and environmental aspects that play an important role in production, transport and use. We negotiate agreements with suppliers and consumers and are continually searching for new opportunities. This includes electric transport, and encouraging the frugal use of paper and other consumables.
