APG is one of the largest administrators of collective pensions in the world.
At APG you contribute to creating sound and affordable pensions for current and future generations. We are currently responsible for the administration, asset management and communication for all pensions for employees and employers in the education, construction, cleaning and window cleaning sectors, housing associations, energy and utility companies and the sheltered employment service. This adds up to more than 40,000 employers and approximately 4.5 million employees with combined pension assets of € 443 billion (December 2016).
Jointly working on a unique pension system
The Dutch pension system, the only one of its kind in the world, has its roots in collectivity and solidarity. By formulating collective agreements founded on solidarity, millions of Dutch citizens are provided with greater financial security combined with a balanced distribution of costs and risks.
APG advocates the retention of this unique pension system, as well as its modernization so that it continues to be attractive to future generations. We are sponsoring four chairs designed to continue to develop knowledge about pensions and to ensure that the debate about collectivity and solidarity is sharply focused. We work without profit motive, which means that profit is not an objective in itself. However, it is nevertheless a means for safeguarding APG’s continuity and innovative strength.
