Pension asset management according to APG

APG advises pension funds on pension asset management and executes the actual management. The financial position and long-term liabilities of the pension fund are the central focal points. Our aim is to enable the pension funds for which we invest to provide their members the best possible pension at affordable contributions.

Policy and administration

Together with the pension fund, we formulate the investment policy and map out the investment strategy for the short and the long term. On that basis we construct the investment portfolio. We do all this in close consultation with the pension fund. We also constantly monitor the investment policy for risk, funding ratio, liabilities, return trends and strategic policy goals. The investment strategy is developed for three-year periods and updated annually. To this end we use an asset liability management (ALM) study. We evaluate the strategy every year. If necessary, we adjust investment policy and draft a new investment plan for the client.

Responsible investing

Responsible investing forms an integral part of the investment process. APG has extensive experience in the area of sustainable investing. We are keen to advise the pension funds on how to incorporate sustainable investments into their investment mix.
