APG careers

APG is one of the world's largest administrators of group pension schemes. With approximately 4,000 employees, we administer the pensions of 4.5 million people. This means that one in five families in the Netherlands depends on APG for their pension.

APG operates internationally

APG's head office is in Heerlen, the Netherlands. We also have offices in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Brussels, New York and Hong Kong. APG manages roughly EUR 284 billion in pension assets (December 2011). And it performs the administration of pensions and provides communication on its related activities, to employees as well as employers.

This is why we have the necessary knowledge about pension systems, pension administration, communication and asset management. At APG, we advocate, just as our clients do, a collective pension system based on solidarity.

This is why we actively share our knowledge and expertise about the advantages of such a system. We do this, for example, by means of presentations and publications, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

'Sustainable investing is an integral part of the investment process at APG. As APG is a large investor, we are in a position to exercise influence on the companies in which we invest. We often call companies to account on their behaviour. We regularly discuss sustainability and good corporate governance with legislators and regulatory authorities.

In addition, we actively look for attractive investments that promote sustainability. For example, APG is one of the major investors in Europe’s largest on-shore windmill park, the Koegorspolder, in the Netherlands. And in the United States, we invest in systems that can extract gas from waste and burn this in a sustainable manner. These are examples of investments that generate a good return and contribute to a cleaner environment.'

'APG provides customised services. Based on interviews with the client, we draft a communication plan that is tailored to the target group and the pension fund’s objectives.

The point of departure is providing the most optimal services to the participants. With the annual Uniform Pension Overview (UPO) but also with a digital newsletter and a virtual assistant on the pension fund’s website. Or with a digital pension file with which the participants can calculate different future scenarios.

This actively increases the involvement of participants in their pensions and that also reduces the workload for the pension funds.'
